1. What This Site Is
prisonersvn.com (the “Site”) is a fan-built browser portal that hosts a static landing page and embeds the playable Ren’Py web build of Prisoners from the developer’s mirror at s.prisonersvn.com. The Site is a convenience wrapper — it does not host, modify, or redistribute the game itself. All in-game art, characters, story, music, sound effects, and the Ren’Py web build are the work of the original creator of Prisoners, JJ (J3NNN).
2. Fan Project, Not Official
This Site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by JJ (J3NNN) or the original Prisoners project. It is an unofficial fan project. The Prisoners name, the in-game art, character names, character likenesses, the dialogue, the storyline, and the Ren’Py web build are the property of their respective owners. The Site does not claim any ownership of the game or any of its assets.
3. Eligibility & Age Restriction
Prisoners is a mature psychological horror visual novel containing flashing lights, claustrophobia, extreme psychological distress, implied character death, and threats of violence. By using this Site, you confirm that you are at or above the age of majority in your jurisdiction (18 in most places). If you are under the age of majority, please do not use this Site.
4. Content Warning Acknowledgement
By pressing Play on the home page, you acknowledge that you have read the content warnings on the home page and on the developer’s itch.io page, and that you consent to exposure to the mature themes described there. If you find the content distressing, please stop playing immediately.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Site for personal, non-commercial use only. You agree not to:
- Attempt to scrape, mirror, or bulk-download the playable build from the iframe source.
- Bypass, circumvent, or attempt to circumvent any access controls, security measures, or rate limits on the Site or its underlying services.
- Use the Site to harass, abuse, or harm anyone, or to send unsolicited communications.
- Use the Site to violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) against the Site other than the standard search-engine crawlers we explicitly support (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc.).
6. Intellectual Property & DMCA
The Site respects the intellectual property of others. If you believe that content on this Site infringes your copyright, you may request its removal by submitting a DMCA notice to the maintainer via the Contact page. A valid DMCA notice must include: (a) identification of the copyrighted work, (b) the URL on prisonersvn.com of the allegedly infringing material, (c) your name, address, telephone number, and email, (d) a statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized, (e) a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf, and (f) your physical or electronic signature.
The Site will respond to valid DMCA notices within 7 business days. The maintainer will make a good faith effort to remove or restrict access to the allegedly infringing material pending resolution.
7. Third-Party Services
The Site embeds or links to third-party services, including Google Fonts, Plausible Analytics, Adsterra, and the developer’s mirror at s.prisonersvn.com. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. The Site is not responsible for the practices of any third party.
8. Advertising
The Site displays advertising served by third-party ad networks (currently Adsterra; Google AdSense may be added in the future). The exact list of authorized sellers is in the file /ads.txt. Advertisers are responsible for the content of their ads. The Site does not endorse any product or service advertised.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The Site does not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Site and its maintainer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of (or inability to use) the Site.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Site and its maintainer from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party’s rights.
12. Changes To These Terms
The Site may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted at this URL with an updated “Last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected in a banner on the home page for at least 30 days.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the maintainer resides, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the use of the Site will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
